For most cable sets, a braided lighting cable is the most versatile and stylish choice, especially when combined with an exposed filament bulb. Check that the cable's max wattage matches your bulb's wattage before you buy, and if you're unsure, our customer support team will be happy to advise.

Most lamp shades simply clip or screw onto the fitting's shade carrier, so check whether yours has a spring clip, a screw collar, or a bayonet fitting before you start. For ceiling lamp shades fitted directly to something like a ceiling rose light fitting, always turn off the power at the consumer unit first for safety.

LED light bulbs use a semiconductor to produce light instead of a heated filament, making them far more energy efficient and longer lasting than traditional bulbs. They run cooler to the touch too, which makes them a safer choice for enclosed fittings and lamp shades.

Bulb fittings vary by lamp type. Most table and floor lamps take a bayonet (B22) or screw (E27/E14) fitting, while many spotlights and outdoor lights often use a smaller GU10 light bulb. Check your existing bulb's base or the product page to be sure before you order.
